Most people I meet don’t need more advice. They need someone to walk through the next steps of their life with them, practically and hands-on, and help them create a new life: what to keep, what to change, and what comes next. That’s what I do.

I work in three stages: before a big change, during it, and after it.

AfterThe Rebuild

After: The Rebuild

For:

Women and men after a divorce, a breakup, or the loss of a spouse who are ready to stop living inside the old version of their life. The house still looks like the marriage. The closet still dresses someone you used to be. Dealing with your ex still drains your time and energy, long after the split.

What changes:

Your home is clean, organized, and styled for you, not for the life you left. Your wardrobe makes you look and feel current, stylish, and confident, and you know how to wear it. You have clear boundaries with your ex: what you’ll discuss, how, when, and what you won’t discuss at all. You know what you want in your next relationship and what you won’t accept again.

What’s included:
  • Kickoff strategy session (2 hours): what you want your life to look like a year from now, your priorities, and your budget.
  • The Home Walkthrough and written plan. If you’ve already booked one, it counts.
  • Three home sessions (3 hours each): we make the decisions room by room, sort out the best way to sell anything worth selling (online, auction house, or consignment), decide what stays and where it goes, and choose what to buy. Photograph-it-then-let-it-go makes the hard decisions easier. I direct the work and line up haulers, consignment, cleaners, and handymen as needed.
  • Wardrobe reset: a closet edit (3 hours), a clear style direction, and a list of exactly what’s missing.
  • Two personal shopping trips (about 3 hours each): we shop together in store, or I choose pieces for you to try on at home. I also coordinate tailoring.
  • Ex boundaries plan: a working session and a written plan covering what you’ll communicate, how, how often, and what to say in the conversations that keep going wrong. This isn’t legal advice, and I’ll work with your attorney if you have one.
  • Next relationship session: what you want, what you’ll never do again, and how to spot the difference early.
  • Check-ins every two weeks by phone or video, plus weekday text and email.
  • Final walkthrough and a written 90-day plan to keep it all in place.

The Rebuild: Wardrobe Only

For:

Men and women who want the wardrobe work without the home work. I see this most often with men after a divorce or after losing a wife, and with people going back to work after a divorce or a long break who need to walk in looking sharp and ready.

What changes:

You stop wearing what’s left over and start dressing like the person you are now — for work, interviews, weekends, dates, and events.

What’s included:

A style session, a 3-hour closet edit, a list of what’s missing, two shopping trips, tailoring coordination, and a written outfit guide. Going back to work? We build the work wardrobe first, around your budget and your body, and I’ll add pointers on presence for interviews and your first weeks back.

What clients say

Tracy, you are so amazing in planning and shopping for a wardrobe I love! You work with my budget and body limitations to create looks that I love and feel confident in. Your guidance has helped me in going back into the corporate work environment. Thank you.

The Home Walkthrough

my recommended starting point for home work
For:

Anyone who feels stuck in their own home: before, during, or after a divorce or loss, before a move or downsizing, combining two households, or sorting through a parent’s home.

What’s included:
  • I walk every room, closet, and the garage with you, about 3 hours.
  • I tell you what to keep, donate, recycle, or throw away, and give informal guidance on what’s worth selling and how.
  • I tell you what to buy to update the home, with a budget range for each item.
  • Within three business days you get a written plan, room by room, in the order I’d tackle it.

The Home Tune-Up

a lower-cost option for home work
For:

You don’t need a whole-house overhaul. You want affordable help that brings beauty, peace, and inspiration to the rooms you live in most.

What’s included:
  • About 2 hours in your home with me.
  • Simple, reasonably priced updates that give the most for the money: bedding, pillows and throws, artwork, or the right piece of furniture.
  • A short written punch list of what to do and what to buy, with a budget range for each item.
  • If you choose, I’ll shop for the pieces for you.

What clients say

Beginning in the 1990s, Tracy helped me discover my style by asking specific yes/no questions that were easy to answer. Had she asked what is your style, I would have melted and answered, ‘uniform?’ Ten years ago, Tracy came to my house to decorate my new home to my style and within my budget. Now, with a move of my own and doing the same for an aging family member, I’ll hire Tracy again. There is nothing she hasn’t seen or helped with, NO judgment, and on my part… NO REGRETS!

During: Restore Order

For:

People in the middle of a separation or divorce, or in a family standoff — parents and teenagers who keep clashing, siblings who can’t get along, tension with in-laws, or hard decisions about an aging parent. Things are moving fast and every decision feels loaded.

What changes:

You stop reacting and start deciding. You know what’s settled, what isn’t, and what to do next, in order. You arrive at attorney meetings organized and focused, so your time with your attorney goes further. The house and the belongings stop being a battleground.

What’s included:
  • Mapping session (2 hours): everything in play, who’s involved, what’s decided and what isn’t. You get a written plan with your next steps in sequence.
  • Six working sessions (75 minutes each) over three months to make decisions and prepare for hard conversations with a spouse, a teenager, siblings, in-laws, or adult children.
  • Home and possessions session: what you want to keep, what matters most, and what’s worth holding firm on and what isn’t. This comes straight from my 15 years as a court-appointed personal property expert.
  • Practical agreements in writing: who does what, who pays for what, living arrangements while things are unsettled, holidays, and the kids’ schedules. These are informal working agreements, not legal documents. Anything that touches custody, support, or property goes through your attorney or mediator, and I’m glad to share the agreements with your attorney.
  • Preparation before attorney or mediator meetings, so you arrive organized and your time with them is focused and productive.
  • One family meeting (up to 2 hours), if it would help: an informal meeting I run to get everyone to workable agreements. Everyone will know you brought me in. This is not court mediation.
  • Weekday text and email, and coordination with your attorney, mediator, financial advisor, or realtor as needed.

Plan First for Couples

moving in together or getting marriedFor:

Couples who want to agree on how a shared life will actually run before resentment has a chance to set in. Especially second marriages, blended families, and two full households becoming one.

What changes:

The disputes or challenges couples carry for years get settled on paper first, in your own words.

What’s included:
  • Four 90-minute sessions with both of you.
  • We work through chores and household standards; who earns what and how money gets spent, shared and separate; children and stepchildren, including roles and discipline; pets; vacations — where, when, and who pays; holidays and extended family; space, and whose things stay; and how you’ll handle disputes or challenges and settle them.
  • A written household agreement you both sign. It’s in plain language, not a legal contract. If you also want a prenup or cohabitation agreement, you’ll go to the attorney already knowing what you want, so your time with the attorney goes further.
  • A home merge session: whose furniture and belongings stay, what gets sold, and what you’ll buy together.
Format:
By video, or in person in the Bay Area.
Length:
4 to 6 weeks.
Investment:
$2,400 per couple, or two payments of $1,200.

Plan First Before You Decide

thinking about divorceFor:

People who haven’t decided yet, or who have decided but haven’t said anything, and want a plan before they act.

What changes:

You decide from clarity instead of panic. If you go, you go prepared.

What’s included:
  • Four 90-minute sessions.
  • Where you stand and what you actually want.
  • A practical inventory: the money picture, the house, belongings, the kids’ schedules, and which documents to gather.
  • What to ask an attorney, and the difference between the mediation and litigation paths. This isn’t legal advice.
  • When and how to have the conversation with your spouse.
  • A written plan with your next steps in sequence.
Format:
By video, or in person in the Bay Area.
Length:
About 6 weeks.

Before we worked with Tracy, we kept having the same arguments over and over again. We were becoming resentful of each other and making no progress toward resolution, as if our marriage had hit a wall. When we sat down with her as our mediator, she helped us communicate in a way where we were able to hear each other and finally understand where the other person was coming from. We both felt like our frustrations were heard and understood thanks to the space Tracy held for us. That was a big breakthrough for our relationship and it allowed us to move forward with taking steps to resolving our problems. Thank you Tracy, you were a blessing for our marriage!

Also available

Informal conflict resolution for families at home — parents and teens who keep clashing, or siblings who can’t stop fighting — so everyone knows the house rules and how to settle things without a blowup. When a family needs to sort through a parent’s home and belongings, I can help with that too. Quoted by project. Formal appraisals are referred out to a currently certified appraiser. I still give informal guidance on value and on how to sell things as part of the Home Walkthrough.

For attorneys and mediators

I welcome referrals from family law attorneys and mediators. If you have a client who needs something specific, whether that’s getting organized, building confidence, or looking and feeling ready for what’s ahead, email me directly at tracy@tracylindsey.com and we’ll work out how I can help. I help your clients prepare for meetings with you so they arrive organized, brief, and composed. I help them work through decisions about the house and belongings, and rebuild once the case is done. I’m glad to coordinate with you, always in support of the attorney, never in place of one. Today I work with clients directly and no longer take court appointments. Here’s a two-minute video introduction you’re welcome to share with clients.

Practical details

I work in the San Francisco Bay Area and remotely across the U.S. Extra hours for current clients: $200 an hour for home and wardrobe work, and $300 an hour for strategy and conflict work. Travel within about 30 miles is included; farther than that is quoted in advance. You pay directly for clothing, furnishings, and outside vendors. I’m not a therapist or an attorney, and I work well alongside both.

Tracy Lindsey smiling in a lavender jacket and floral scarf beside climbing roses.

The first thing I’ll ask you is simple: What do you want? If you’re not sure yet, that’s where we start.

Start with a free 20-minute fit call. It’s short, practical, and only about whether we’re a good fit and where to begin. If we are, your first paid step is usually the Strategy Session: 90 minutes, a written plan within two business days, and something concrete to act on right away.

I’m warm, clear, and composed under pressure. I’ll tell you the truth, kindly, and then help you act on it — alongside your attorney or therapist when you have one, never instead of them.
